Project Description

This brick limewash project updated the full exterior of a 6000 square foot home in Prosper, TX. The goal was to soften the look of the brick while still keeping its natural texture visible.

Romabio Lime Slurry in a Natural Tan finish was applied across all brick surfaces. This type of coating allows the brick to breathe while creating a more uniform and modern appearance. Instead of covering the brick completely, the limewash adds depth and variation.

The brick painting project was completed in five days. By focusing on the brick only, the home now has a refreshed look that still feels natural and true to its original design.

Background Story:

The homeowner wanted a change that would update the exterior without making it look overly painted. The original brick had strong color variation that felt dated compared to the style they were going for.

Highland Painting worked with the homeowner to find a finish that would tone down the brick while still showing its character. Limewash was the right fit because it sits into the surface instead of forming a heavy layer on top.

Since this was a large custom home, the approach needed to stay consistent across all sides. The goal was to create a balanced finish that looked natural from every angle.

Scope of Services:

  • Brick Limewash Application: All exterior brick surfaces were coated using Romabio Lime Slurry to create a softer and more uniform finish.
  • Full Exterior Coverage: The entire brick exterior of the home was treated to keep the look consistent across all elevations.
  • Surface Preparation: Brick surfaces were prepped before application to allow the limewash to absorb properly.

Paint Products Used:

  • Romabio Lime Slurry
  • Color Natural Tan

Project Cost:

Approximately $17,000 for full brick limewash on a 6000 square foot home.

Results:

After five days, the home had a noticeably updated exterior. The brick now has a softer and more even tone, while still showing the natural texture underneath.

The Natural Tan finish helped reduce harsh color variation and gave the home a more refined look. This brick limewash project shows how a mineral-based finish can update brick without losing its original character.

If your brick exterior feels too bold or outdated, limewash can give you a different look without fully covering the surface. It’s a great option for homeowners who want a more natural finish.
